The Dreaded Scale

Should we use the scale or should we not use it?

MEDFORD, Ore. -- The scale might not be our favorite thing to use, but it can be useful to keep track of our weight.

There was a fear among doctors that teenagers and adolescents would turn to bulemia or anorexia to get the results they want if they monitored their weight on a scale.

A study at Duke University looked at their obesity program and made 200 people work out in the way they desired.

It found that people who used the scales seven times a week lost 20 pounds compared to the other group losing five pounds when they didn't use the scale at all.
