WILDERVILLE, Ore. --
Rural Metro Fire shared photos of the accident. We're now learning this was a head-on collision. Firefighters had to extricate four people from the cars. Two are in serious condition, one was flown to the Medford hospital via Mercy flight. Another person was pronounced dead on arrival. The crash happened near mile marker 14 and blocked the roadway from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
This happened near Hayes Hill. OSP is investigating the cause of the crash.
The severity of the crash prompted a massive response of rescue crews from Rural Metro Fire - Josephine County, AMR-Josephine County, Illinois Valley Fire District, Oregon State Police, Oregon Department of Transportation & Josephine County Sheriff's Office.

A crash on Redwood Highway near mile marker 16 has blocked the roadway for an extended period of time. This is in Wilderville.
Rural Metro, the Illinois Valley Fire Department and ambulances are on the scene treating multiple patients. A mercy flight helicopter is arriving to the scene. Crews say expect delays.
