Sweet summer-time donation

The Jackson County CASA office is bursting full of new summer clothes thanks to a large donation from the brokers of Windermere Van Vleet.

MEDFORD, Ore. -- The CASA of Jackson County is bursting full of new summer clothes thanks to a large donation from the brokers of Windermere Van Vleet.

Their donation will help clothe around 150 children in foster care.

This is the second year in a row for Windermere’s summer donation to CASA. Each agent selects a card with a list of items that children need.

“Some agents pick several,” said David Zupan, co-owner of Windermere Van Vleet, “we had some that took five, some took 10.”

In some cases, there’s more than one item on the child’s list.

“There might be two pairs of shorts, two pairs of pants, a pair of shoes. It impacts a lot of kids,” said Zupan.

This donation is unique because all the clothing donated was for summer wear.

“A lot of the clothing drives and food drives happen during Christmas,” said Zupan, “what’s wonderful about this event is it’s a summer clothing drive and not a lot of things happen in the summer.”

“We’re so excited.” Said Wenonoa Spibak, the Jackson County CASA Deputy Director, “It’s going to help so many children.”

Spibak says it’s atypical to get a donation of this size all at one time.

CASA accepts donations year around. If you are interested in donating click here.
