MEDFORD, Ore. — A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Medford last week has been arrested in Park County, Montana, according to the Medford Police Department (MPD).

33-year-old Chester Iodence was wanted after a confrontation on Royal Avenue on Sunday, May 13. Witnesses say that Iodence was accused of stealing a bicycle, after which he pulled a knife. When several people tried to disarm Iodence, MPD said that he pulled out a handgun and began firing.

While Iodence was identified as a suspect in the incident, MPD were unable to track him down at the time.

According to MPD, Iodence was arrested in Montana when an 'officer spotted him in a stolen vehicle' on Sunday. He was arrested without incident.

Iodence will stand trial for those charges in Montana, after which he will be extradited back to Medford to face Attempted Murder charges from the incident on Royal Avenue.

"We are happy to have this dangerous man in custody," said MPD in a Facebook post.
