MEDFORD, Ore. -- Police announce an arrest in a drive-by shooting that happened on Monday night.
Police say the shooting happened around 7:35 Monday night. Officers responded to Dakota Avenue and Hamilton Street, in Medford for the report of multiple gunshots being heard in the area.
Officers found that several rounds were fired from a vehicle towards a home in the 1100 Block of Dakota Avenue. Five people were inside at the time, including a one month old baby. No one was hurt. The home and two vehicles parked in the driveway were struck by bullets.
Witnesses to the shooting reported seeing a white Ford Mustang speeding away from the scene. Detectives from the Medford Police Department Criminal Investigation Section and the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team responded and took over the investigation.
The investigation and video surveillance in the area led detectives to a residence in the 900 block of Hamilton Street. Investigators found the vehicle believed to be involved in this shooting. Last night, detectives executed a search warrant at the residence where additional evidence was recovered. While at the residence detectives took 20 year old Santiago Flores-Loveland into custody. Medford Police say Flores-Loveland was initially taken to the Jackson County Jail for violation of his Parole.
This morning, detectives added the below listed charges related to the shooting. Detectives believe this incident is gang related.
Medford Police say Santiago-Flores was released from prison back in September and is currently on Parole with Jackson County Community Justice. Medford Police say Santiago-Flores is on Parole from a prior shooting incident investigated by the Medford Police Department that occurred in September of 2015.
