UPDATE: Steamboat Fire Near Montague Now 70 Percent Contained

Cal Fire confirms the Steamboat Fire is now 224 acres and 70% contained. The Shasta Valley Wildlife Area is still closed.

UPDATE: The Steamboat Fire is now 70 percent contained and holding at 224 acres, according to CAL FIRE.

The Shasta Valley Wildlife Area Remains closed at this time.

SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. -- Cal Fire is on the scene of a +40 acre fire, known as the Steamboat Fire in the Shasta Valley Wildlife Area, four miles south of Montague.

Right now the fire is 0% contained.

The Shasta Valley Wildlife Area is closed due to this fire.
