KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Sky Lakes Medical Center will hold a special vaccination event next week specifically for people 16 or 17 years old who are eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine.
The event will be open to frontline workers, people who live in the home of a frontline worker, those in multi-generational households, and those with underlying health conditions. Qualifying conditions include Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, people with a BMI of 25 or greater, current and former smokers, people with substance use disorders, cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD, Down syndrome, heart conditions, pregnancy, sickle cell disease, and people who are immunocompromised from organ transplant or HIV.
Appointments are required for the clinic, which will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, on the fourth floor of the original Sky Lakes medical center building. Appointments can be made by calling 1-833-606-4370 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No walk-in slots or on-site appointments are available.
Only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for people under 18, and Sky Lakes said that it has confirmed there will be an "ample supply" of this particular vaccine available.
Sky Lakes has other clinics coming up for everyone 18 and older once they become eligible on April 19.
