JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — Authorities are looking for a missing woman after her car was recovered in rural Josephine County, though she has no known connections to the area.
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office says that 46-year-old Sherry Wellwood lives in Washington County, Oregon. She was reported missing from her home on December 18. On Thursday, Wellwood's car was discovered on a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) road in rural Josephine County.
"A citizen located Wellwood’s vehicle on BLM Road 37-6-36, which connects Spencer Creek Road to Cedar Flat Road. The vehicle was unoccupied when found and no persons were seen in the area," the Sheriff's Office said.
Wellwood is not from this area and has no known family or friends in Southern Oregon, according to the agency. Anyone who has seen Wellwood or her vehicle should contact the Sheriff's Office at 541-474-5123.
Wellwood is described as standing 5 feet and three inches, weighing 191 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Her car is a blue 2005 Hynudai Sonata, with Oregon license plate number 636GAU.
The vehicle is in law enforcement custody and the Josephine County Sheriff's Office stresses that it is no longer looking for it.
