KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Shasta Elementary School plans to hold a drive-through food drive on July 22 to support people impacted by the Bootleg Fire, the Klamath County School District says.
"Many of us are looking for ways to help those impacted by the Bootleg Fire," administrators said on Thursday. "Though people want to support fire crews, fire camps are not set up to take donations and officials have told us that firefighters have what they need. But our neighbors in the fire zone do need our support."
Donations to the food drive will go to the Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank for distribution to Bootleg Fire evacuees. Non-perishable items are requested.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 22 at 1951 Madison Street and is drive-through, drop-off.
KCSD said Thursday that Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank had already delivered more than 4,000 pounds of ready-to-eat meals, produce, pet food, cereal, and hygiene items to help people impacted by the fire.
