KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore.-- It took search crews more than 12 hours to find a missing hiker from the Ashland area in the Sky Lakes Wilderness.
On Friday around 2:30 p.m., the hiker was able to contact Klamath County 911 dispatch intermittently. Dispatches tried to ping the hikers location. It was very sporadic.
The Klamath County Sheriff's Office and Klamath County Search and Rescue deployed teams to a couple different locations several miles apart within the wilderness area.
Jackson County Search and Rescue teams were also called in to help.
Saturday morning, just before 10:00 a.m., ground teams working with air resources found the hiker. The person was airlifted to safety.
