ASHLAND, Ore. — ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum in Ashland plans to reopen on Monday, June 15, with new health and safety policies in place to stay within state coronavirus guidelines.

"Thank you for your patience while we navigate the world of hands-on science during a pandemic. Last week, we announced that we would be reopening on June 8, but today we are revising that date to Monday, June 15," the Museum said in a statement. "While we are truly looking forward to reopening, we must do it in a responsible manner. We want to provide an enjoyable experience for visitors, and also protect the health and safety of our volunteers, staff, and community."

ScienceWorks said that it will be making adjustments at the museum to comply with the state and local health guidelines, with the potential for more changes over the summer.

"We will let you know as quickly as we can if we need to change our plans to keep you safe, while always striving to deliver an awesome ScienceWorks experience for you and your family," ScienceWorks said.

Visits will be ticketed in two-hour shifts to prevent crowding and allow for cleaning time between groups, and ScienceWorks says that it will have online ticketing available so groups can reserve their visits ahead of time.

Exhibits may have to be moved or changed to allow for physical distancing, and some others will be closed. Patron groups will be limited to two people per exhibit at a time.

All visitors, staff, and volunteers will have to wear masks or some kind of cloth face covering.

"We will provide additional hand sanitizer stations and exhibit cleaning materials for visitors to use," ScienceWorks said. "Please do not visit if you suspect you are ill or have been exposed to COVID-19."

Also starting June, the museum will see the return of its Pterosaurs exhibit.

"You can't tell from the outside, but the ScienceWorks crew is working every day to prepare for your next visit! One project in particular is really HUGE," the museum said. "Pterosaurs! You will not want to miss this multi-station showcase that brings Mesozoic fossils into focus with modern technology."
