WEED, Cali-- A man is in Siskiyou County Jail for shooting a woman in the stomach.
The Weed Police Department says the suspect is 19-year-old Matthew Mungenast from Salem.
The department says it got a 911 call from the victim on Saturday night just before 9:00 pm. When officers got on scene they treated the victim's gun shot wound. She was then transported to Mercy Medical Center.
Officers also searched the area for the suspect. Mungenast was found along with a firearm. He is charged with felony gross negligence discharge of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, felony vehicle theft, and carrying a loaded firearm in public.
The woman is in stable condition at the hospital.
