MERLIN, Ore-- Early into the morning hours of Sunday, Rural Metro Fire responded to a structure fire in the 1800 block of Carton Way in Merlin.
Firefighters say that when they arrived to the scene, and found a single-wide mobile englued in flames. RMF says that the fire was quickly contained with minimal spread to the thick brush and grass surrounding the building.
Six fire units and 11 firefighters worked at that scene, while AMR provided a standby crew.
According to Rural Metro Fire, the owner of the structure was not inside at the time of fire, leaving two kitten trapped inside. RMF says that they were able to save the two kittens, with only minor injuries to their whiskers.
Fire investigators at the scene believe the cause of the fire could be related to an electrical issue that occurred.
RMF says that the property was determined to not have a service contract with Rural Metro Fire and that in the absence of any other provider available to confirm responsibility, RM crews took complete and necessary action on behalf of the property owner and surrounding neighbors.
