"At Rogue Valley Mall we have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely. In response to the direction of local and state government, we are temporarily closing the property as of 7 p.m. tonight until further notice," general manager Jeffrey Barber said in a statement. "The safety of our shoppers and employees is the top priority for our property. We will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with our local authorities."
Last week, the Rogue Valley Mall adjusted its operating hours in light of COVID-19 coronavirus, changing them to Monday through Sunday 11:00am – 7:00pm. Some retailer hours were expected to vary.
Under the executive order issued by Gov. Brown, the direction for indoor malls was somewhat confusing. On one hand, malls are explicitly directed to close down. However, it allows for businesses that provide food, groceries, health care, pharmacy or medical goods, or pet store services to remain open, even within malls. It also allowed food courts to remain open for take-out only.
