MEDFORD, Ore--- The Rogue Valley Express Way opened at about 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

After around 15 years of planning, citizens finally got to drive on the much-anticipated highway.

Construction for the project took three years.

The highway opened to a breathtaking view of the Rogue Valley.

It is a view that may quickly become a favorite among Rogue Valley citizens. On one side of the road, you will see airplanes take off from the Rogue Valley International Medford Airport, right in front of the Table Rocks. On the other side, the sun rises over the top of Mt. McLoughlin.

Other than one or two curves, the road is a straight shot. It connects Medford to White City.

Aside from the opportunity of the beautiful view, the highway should save an incredible amount of time for citizens of the Rogue Valley.

The trip takes about 5 minutes. If you have to take that trip twice a day, it saves about 10 minutes per day. 5 days a week is 2,600 minutes per year. If you divide that number by 60 minutes, for one hour, you end up with 43 hours per year.

Many people were already driving on the road by 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
