MEDFORD, Ore.-- Kids that go to school hungry have a harder time focusing in class.

Rogue Powerpack wants to make sure that doesn't happen for kids in Jackson County.

Now in its 6th year, the Rogue Powerpack Program fills backpacks with food. Each backpack has six kid-friendly meals for each weekend.

There are currently 170 children at five schools in Jackson County in the program.

These children qualify for free and/or reduced meals at school but need access to food over the weekends at home.

Volunteers spend more than 600 hours filling backpacks over the school year. It costs about $225 to feed a child over the school year.

If you're interested in helping the program, please contact LeAnn Mobley, (541) 944-0054 or email roguepowerpack@gmail.com.
