ASHLAND, Ore. —
UPDATE: The American Red Cross will be closing their Ashland emergency shelter at noon today. Red Cross staff will continue to be on stand-by "in the event that further assistance is needed," according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO).
JCSO did not specify why the shelter is closing today, though the evacuation order remains in effect.

INITIAL REPORT: The American Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter in Ashland, Oregon for the people displaced by the Klamathon fire in Northern California.
Those who need assistance should report to Ashland High School, at 201 South Mountain Avenue in Ashland.
For evacuees who were on the California side before the I-5 closure, the Red Cross has been offering aid at Jackson Street Elementary School in Yreka.
