YREKA, Calif. — Rain Rock Casino in Yreka will soon be joined by an 80-room hotel and other additions to the development, the Karuk Tribe announced on Wednesday.
The plan for a hotel resort has been in the works for the last three years, the Tribe said. The project includes a 48,000 square-foot, 80-room, 3.5-star hotel and more than 15,000 square-feet of landscaped grounds around an outdoor swimming pool.
“We are proud of the continued success of our Rain Rock Casino and are excited to enter into the second phase of our development. These additions to our property will help secure Rain Rock Casino and Resort as a true regional destination, exciting times lay before us,” said noted Karuk chairman Russell "Buster" Atteber.
In addition to the hotel and pool, the Tribe said that improvements will include a 4,000 square-foot event center, more casino gaming space, enclosing the existing restaurant, and a new sports bar. The existing casino will get a face-lift as well.
“We worked very closely with local government and community in the development of this plan and are looking forward to the positive impact on the local economy with job development and tourism” said Michael Rose, general manager of the Rain Rock Casino.
The project is expected to begin later this year, with an estimated finish date in late 2022 or early 2023.
