A powerful 7.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Alaska Tuesday night and triggered tsunami warnings for South Alaska, the Alaska Peninsula and the Aleutian Islands. The Oregon coast and the entire mainland west coast of the U.S. has been cleared of any tsunami threat from this quake by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.'
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Tuesday night at 11:12 PM PST off the Alaska coast about 60 miles south-southeast of Perryville, Alaska at a depth of 6 miles.
