MERLIN, Ore-- Early Saturday afternoon, Pacific Power reported that more than 1,700 customers were without power after a vehicle sheered off a power pole near the 1200 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Merlin.
According to Rural Metro Fire, first responders, along with medics from American Medical Response, found a vehicle off the roadway, having sheered off a power pole.
Crews in the area say that power lines could be seen hanging down into traffic lanes.
The sole occupant of the vehicle was able to remove himself from the vehicle and denied that they were injured. Shortly later RMF says that the person was taken into custody by Josephine County Sheriff Deputies.
Fire crews remained on scene to provide hazard standby while Pacific Power cleared the pole and wires, as well as detoured traffic.
According to the latest reports from Pacific Power, 13 people are still without power.
