GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- Grants Pass police arrested 31-year-old Joseph Gustin III, they say an investigation revealed he is linked to five rooftop burglaries.

These burglaries started back in March 2019. Police responded to several commercial burglaries where entry was made from the rooftops of businesses each time. On May 1st, it happened again. Officers responded to an alarm at Shop River Rock (966 SW 6th Street) and located a possible burglary suspect. The suspect ran from the scene.

Fast forward to Friday, at the same place, several thousand dollars in purses and jewelry were stolen. Police said Gustin also caused several thousand dollars in property damage by forcing entry. Police were given surveillance video from Friday's burglary, which helped lead investigators to identify Joseph Gustin III as the suspect.

Gustin the third was arrested Saturday. He was found when he returned to the gift shop he burglarized Friday and employees recognized him. They called the police and after arrival, officers took Gustin to the Grants Pass Police Department for further investigation. Through the investigation, it was determined Gustin is linked to five of the previous rooftop burglaries since March. Later, Gustin was lodged at the Josephine County Jail on the charges listed below.
