MEDFORD, Ore. — Officers with the Medford Police Department descended on an apartment building along Poplar Drive on Tuesday after a report of "shots fired" in the area.
Shortly before 4 p.m., an officer was nearby the building at 2103 Poplar Drive when they heard a gunshot, according to Lt. Ivans with Medford Police. Almost simultaneously, dispatch received two calls about a shot fired in the same area.
Multiple officers quickly responded to the scene, taking up positions around the complex before narrowing the search to a single apartment. Lt. Ivans said that they were able to find the source of the shot, and a man and woman were both detained at the scene.
According to Lt. Ivans, no officers fired any shots during the incident. Police do not believe there is any further danger to the public, and no one was reported injured from the gunfire.
Later in the evening, Medford Police confirmed that a man was arrested at the scene on "weapons-related charges." Officers on the scene were not able to find where the gunshot impacted.
