MEDFORD, Ore. -- Medford Police are still searching for the suspect in an armed robbery at the Smart Choice Market on Peach Street late Tuesday night.
Police say received a call about the robbery at 10:47 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, the clerk reported that a man had come into the store with a handgun and demanded that they open the cash register.

"The male suspect pushed the store clerk away from the cash register and took the cash from the drawer," Medford Police said in a statement. "The suspect also took two cartons of cigarettes and a package of lighters prior to leaving the store on foot."
Detectives arrived and took over the investigation, viewing video from security cameras at the store. The suspect is described as a slender white man wearing a purple beanie, a grey and blue plaid shirt, and black jeans.
Police told NewsWatch 12 earlier that shots were reportedly fired in the area, but not during the robbery.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Dennis at 541-774-2242.
