WHITE CITY, Ore. -- The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has filed charges against one man detained on Sunday night following a shooting in White City.

Deputies were dispatched after 5:15 p.m. on Sunday after learning that a man was found bleeding from his arm and asking for an ambulance near Lakeview Drive and Merry Lane. The officers discovered at the scene that he was suffering from bullet wounds.

"Shortly after the initial report, deputies were advised that a suspicious vehicle had left the scene at a high speed driving recklessly. The two events were believed to be related," the Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators came to believe that the victim and two other people had been inside the victim's car when he was shot, parked at Lakeview and Merry. Following the shooting, the two others got into their own car and left.

Not more than a half hour later, deputies found a "suspicious vehicle" off Gramercy Road — roughly one mile away from where the shooting happened — detaining two persons of interest.

The Sheriff's Office said on Monday that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The victim was brought to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center for treatment. His wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, the Sheriff's Office said.

On Monday evening, the agency identified the two detained men — only one of whom is being charged for the shooting at this time. Deputies initially picked up 25-year-old Devon James Wright and 28-year-old Tylar Jordan Rossiter on probation violations.

After further investigation, detectives charged Wright with Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Robbery in the First Degree and Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. He is being held on a total of $400,000 bail at Jackson County Jail.

No additional charges have yet been filed against Rossiter, the other man detained on Sunday night.

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Juan Robert Leach. The Sheriff's Office says that he remains in the hospital for treatment.

"Investigation into the case is continuing," the Sheriff's Office said. "Detectives are asking anyone who may have more information about this case to contact Detective Steve Bohn at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 541-774-6168."
