INITIAL REPORT: Police are asking for the public's help in locating a man believed to have broken into a Grants Pass woman's apartment and sexually assaulted her on Friday, just before 1 a.m.
Dispatch received a 911 call from a 63-year-old woman living at the Riverwood Apartments at 1599 SE N Street at 12:44 a.m. The woman reported that she had been sexually assaulted by a man who had unlawfully entered her apartment.
The man reportedly fled the scene a few minutes before the woman could call police, according to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS). Officers searched the area after arriving on the scene, and detectives began investigating the case, but the suspect could not be found.
"Through the investigation that followed, the male suspect's identity was discovered," GPDPS said.
That suspect was 25-year-old Dillon Bryce Ritchason, whose last known address was in Montana. Ritchason is a sex offender registered in Billings, Montana, who was convicted of "Sexual Intercourse Without Consent" on a 3-year-old girl in 2008.
GPDPS said that detectives are still on the case, but they are looking for help in locating Ritchason. He may be associated with a white 2002 Dodge 1500 truck with the Montana license plate number 341710C.
Ritchason is described as being 6'1" and 140 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. According to the Montana sex offender registry, Ritchason also has "eight dots" either tattooed or scarred on his right hand.
"If you see Dillon Ritchason or the vehicle, do not attempt to contact him," GPDPS said. "Please contact police immediately either via 911, or through our non-emergency number 541-450-6260."
Pending charges for Ritchason include Burglary 1, Rape 1, and Sodomy 1. The victim of the attack was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center, but her condition is unknown at this time.
