GRANTS PASS, Ore. — State police have launched a death investigation following the discovery of a man's body in his truck in rural Josephine County, the Oregon State Police (OSP) said in a statement on Wednesday evening.
On Monday, May 27, deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff's Office drove out to Limpy Creek Road west of Grants Pass around 6:45 p.m. The report indicated that a dead man had been discovered. Detectives from the OSP Major Crime Section responded to conduct a death investigation.
Investigators found 36-year-old Harry Stone Osbeck III dead in his Toyota pickup truck.
"Stone is originally from the Virginia Beach area and has been in the Josephine County area for the past 3 years," OSP said.
Stone's dog Max was found and brought to a local animal shelter, the agency said.
The cause of death is still uncertain and OSP said that it is awaiting toxicology results to learn more. Stone's death remains an active investigation, and the agency said that "no further information will be released at this time."
