GRANTS PASS, Ore. — An armed robbery at New Hope Market in Josephine County led police officers on a trail to two previous robberies, according to Oregon State Police (OSP).

The robbery at New Hope Market occurred on March 24, but OSP troopers found the suspects gone when they arrived. Detectives investigating the New Hope robbery caught wind of a similar armed robbery at Levi's Market on March 7th.

Investigators also learned of a cash theft that occurred at the Williams County Store, and they found that third incident to be related to the first two.

Over a period of three days, officers arrested three suspects in connection with the robberies—starting with 18-year-old Kenneth Frankel on March 27. Frankel has been lodged in the Josephine County Jail for two counts of 1st Degree Robbery, three counts of 1st Degree Theft, Unlawful Use of a Dangerous Weapon, and Unlawful Use of Stun Gun, Tear Gas, or Mace.

18-year-old Daniel Anderson was arrested on March 28. He has been lodged in the Josephine County Jail for two counts of 1st Degree Robbery, three counts of 1st Degree Theft, Unlawful Use of a Dangerous Weapon, and Unlawful Use of Stun Gun, Tear Gas, or Mace.

18-year-old Brendan Shapiro was arrested on March 29. He has been lodged in the Josephine County Jail for two counts of 1st Degree Robbery, two counts of 1st Degree Theft, Unlawful Use of a Dangerous Weapon, and Unlawful Use of Stun Gun, Tear Gas, or Mace.

OSP was assisted by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety and Josephine County District Attorney’s Office. During the course of the investigation the OSP Criminal Division also received several investigative tips from alert citizens, which ultimately assisted in the identification and apprehension of the suspects.
