Parking for BoomFest

Cities across Southern Oregon are getting ready for a busy Independence Day. If you plan on going to BoomFest, you can park at any of the five gates at the Jackson County Expo.

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. -- BoomFest organizers said that Jackson County Expo parking lots start to get crowded around 6 p.m. on the Fourth of July. If you want to avoid that, all gates at Expo will open at 3 p.m.

People coming to BoomFest can park in any of the five gates at the Jackson County Expo.

Anyone planning to launch legal fireworks can park in Gate 1. This is where the Community Launch Zone will be located. It will be open 5 p.m. until about 9 p.m.

The Kid's Zone and the Rocket Lounge are in Gate 2 and Gate 3.

Both Gate 4 and Gate 5 are a little bit futher out, but they are perfect for tailgating, picnics or just watching fireworks.

It is important to remember that whichever gate you park at is the gate you will leave from at the end of the night.

"You just need to think strategy in terms of how you want to get out of here at the end of the night," said Helen Funk, Jackson County Fair Director. "People are really worried they're going to be sitting in traffic for an hour. We know that if we follow this strategy we will actually be able to clear these fairgrounds in less than half an hour."

No one will be able to drive down Peninger Road once the fireworks are over. Parents looking to pick up their kids after BoomFest can find a parking spot before the show is over or meet at another place.

You will be able to see fireworks from just about anywhere on the Jackson County Expo grounds. Fireworks are being launched on the other side of the amphitheater, so if you plan on watching from there you will get the best view by sitting up on the lawn or the back seats.

This year's BoomFest includes food trucks, live music and a fireworks show. The fireworks are scheduled to start at about 9:30 p.m., but that may change depending on when the sun sets.
