PORTLAND, Ore. — The state of Oregon surpassed 20,000 total cases of coronavirus on Thursday with the latest daily update from the Oregon Health Authority.
Officials reported 267 new confirmed and presumptive cases, bringing the statewide total to 20,225. OHA also reported the death of an 83-year-old Umatilla County man who tested positive on July 16 and died on August 1 — the 339th death attributed to coronavirus. He had underlying health conditions.

The new cases reported Thursday were in the following counties: Baker (1), Benton (1), Clackamas (22), Clatsop (1), Columbia (4), Coos (1), Crook (1), Deschutes (12), Douglas (5), Grant (1), Jackson (16), Jefferson (10), Josephine (2), Lane (12), Linn (3), Malheur (19), Marion (33), Morrow (1), Multnomah (45), Polk (4), Sherman (1), Umatilla (27), Wasco (6), Washington (30), and Yamhill (9).
OHA's latest numbers show 19,162 positive COVID-19 tests and 412,037 that returned negative, indicating that roughly 1,063 cases are considered presumptive at present.
Of Oregon's total cases, at least 1,743 have been hospitalized since the beginning of the pandemic — about 9 percent of cases. The status of another 11 percent of cases is unknown.
At present, 230 people with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 are in the hospital — 58 in Intensive Care beds and 29 on ventilators.
