SALEM, Ore-- Today marks another grim milestone for Oregon when it comes to the pandemic, as more than 1,600 lives have been claimed by coronavirus. The Oregon Health Authority reporting today another day of more than a thousand new cases, 1,643 cases, and 28 additional deaths.
Multiple counties are reporting 100 or more new cases of the virus including: Lane(101), Marion(106), Jackson(121), Clackamas(125), Washington(175) and Multonmah(369) counties.
In the almost 11 months that the virus have been here in Oregon, 124,476 Oregonians have contracted the virus and 1,603 people have died.
Cases continue to surge this week as the state has reported 6,816 cases of the virus so far this week and another 103 deaths.
However, even has new cases and deaths continue to surge throughout Oregon, vaccinations are starting to pick up at a faster pace. More than 13,000 vaccinations were added to the state's total today, taking the grand total of vaccinations up to 88,362.
Of those 13,448 vaccinations, 8,768 doses were administered yesterday and the rest were from previous days that had not been recorded.
Oregon hospitalizations also decreased today by 30 beds, 451 beds in use as of yesterday and 421 beds as of today. ICU beds also decreased as well down from 88 patients to 81 patients.
