SALEM, Ore-- After reporting the lowest amount of new coronavirus cases in almost two months yesterday, the Oregon Health Authority is reporting 1,416 cases today, along with 5 new deaths.
Oregon is getting close to surpassing the 110,000 mark for coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, as the more than 1,400 new cases today takes the state's total up to 109,725 cases.
The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon also increased today to 492, that's 20 more than yesterday, and 105 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) beds, which is eight more than yesterday.
After weeks and weeks of the state reporting 8,000 or more cases of Covid-19, the state saw a significant decrease this week. Across the board the Oregon Health Authority reported only 6,935 cases this week compared to last week when the state reported more than 9,000 new cases of coronavirus.
Still the death toll continues to climb as 1,427 lives have now been claimed in Oregon by the virus after the 5 new deaths today. Oregon experienced 86 new deaths this week.
Across Southern Oregon, Jackson County reported 67 new cases of Covid-19 along with another death. Josephine County is reporting 60 cases, Klamath County is reporting 89 new cases and Curry County is reporting 8 new cases.
