MEDFORD, Ore -- One year ago a fire started at the Cedar Tree Apartment Complex in Medford. It ended up killing a young girl named Olivia.
The fire happened around 5:30 am on November 2nd, 2018. Fire investigators know the fire started in Tonya Johnson's apartment. The problem is no one was home when the fire started.
Johnson, the woman who lived in that apartment, was hit by a car the night before. When investigators talked to her she didn't know anything about the fire or the accident.
NewsWatch 12 reached out to the Olivia's mom this week. Here's what she said to us. "This last year has been very painful and heart breaking. Amelia and I have been fortunate to have loving and caring people in our lives. We have been doing our best to find peace after losing Olivia. Every day has new challenges and bitter sweet memories."
In February 2019 fire investigators could not find a cause of the apartment fire. They say there were multiple possible causes in the room.
