OnTrack Unveils New Dad's Program Facility

After years of controversy surrounding OnTrack's substandard housing, the non-profit is opening its new dad's program facility.

MEDFORD, Ore. -- Any day now, dads receiving addiction treatment from OnTrack's Dad's Program will move into their new facility. It's a newly remodeled home along Medford's Lone Pine Road and a big upgrade from the current program center on Frankquette Street. 

"We know that we've been through a rough couple of years but we're looking forward and really dedicated to our out-patient and residential programs," said newly appointed Communications Director Eddie Wallace. "We have a terrific staff, good leadership team, and it's all about the clients. Serving them as best as we possibly can."

Over the past two years, OnTrack has faced harsh criticism after health officials shutdown two facilities due to substandard housing. The Mom's Program, or HOPE Program, reopened last November. The Teen Program's fate remains to be seen.

The Dad's program was never shut down, but OnTrack admits the old program facility was not quite doing the job. Wallace says the space was outdated and too small and that therapy sessions had to be held in the living room. The new space includes 700 square feet in extra space and is capable of easily accommodating pre-k children and younger. Young children sometimes accompany their dads to the recovery program. 

It also comes equipped with a designated group therapy room and private therapy room. The space can accommodate up to ten dads and seven kids. The house is ready to go and residents are expected to move in by the end of this week.

OnTrack also saw a major shift in leadership with its new executive director, Alan Ledford. Despite these changes in leadership, Wallace says this is one of several steps OnTrack is taking to earn back the public's trust. 

"It's vitally important to everyone here at OnTrack that the community trusts us to be the best possible provider of addiction services and education, [and] low cost housing," said Wallace. "We're working so hard everyday to regain that trust and spread the good word in the community that we're back. We've got a great team of counselors and other staff members who are dedicated to making OnTrack a terrific organization."

Dads are expected to move in to the new facility by the end of this week.
