MEDFORD, Ore. -- The new Olsrud Family Community Playground is so close to being complete. The Medford Parks and Recreation Department hopes to have it done by the end of the day Sunday. The old playground one was about 30 years old and pieces were constantly being replaced so kids didn't hurt themselves.

“It was time. We wanted to make sure we did it in the right way because the original concept was done by volunteers as well so we wanted to honor that and do it in the same way,” said the Parks and Rec Assistant Director Tim Stevens.

Over the last few months roughly 1,200 volunteers have helped put the playground together.
The Medford Parks and Rec hopes to have the ribbon cutting next Saturday, December 15th, if everything gets completed.
