GOLD HILL, Ore. — A trooper with Oregon State Police found nearly three pounds of heroin during a traffic stop on I-5 near Gold Hill on Wednesday, according to the agency.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Wenesday, a trooper from the Central Point Area Command stopped the driver of a 2005 Nissan Altima for failure to display a license plate on I-5 northbound.
OSP said that the driver consented to a search during the stop. The trooper found roughly 2.7 pounds of heroin concealed in the "natural voids" of the Nissan's trunk.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Eric Barrios of Long Beach, California, was charged with Unlawful Delivery of Heroin and Unlawful Possession of Heroin.
Barrios no longer appears on the Jackson County Jail log — presumably released pending court proceedings.
