WOLF CREEK, Ore. -- A motorcyclist is now in the hospital with serious injuries after Rural Metro crews say that the biker crashed while heading southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 76.
Rural Metro Fire crews were called to assist the Wolf Creek Rural Fire Protection District and AMR-Josephine County.
RM says that multiple calls to 911 reported the rider was down with serious injuries.
According to Rural Metro there have been no reports, so far, of any other vehicle involved in that accident.
Rural Metro units from Sunny Valley and North Valley reported to the scene to establish command of the incident and assist with patient care.
Crews on the scene also say that additional RM units were mobilized to establish a landing zone for Mercy Flights, to airlift the patient to a Medford-area trauma center.
Oregon State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash, and according to Rural Metro this was the third motorcycle crash in their response area in the last 24 hours.
First responders continue to urge all motorists to be on the lookout for riders, and for riders to operate with caution and wear appropriate protective riding gear.
