UPDATE - May 30th, 2020 : Mataya Gearhart has been found safe late Friday night according to the Oregon Department of Human Services.
D.H.S. says its thankful for the community support to find her. No further details have been released
SALEM, Ore. — A foster child who went missing from the Portland area on Monday may be in "critical danger and may be held against her will," according to the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS).
16-year-old Mataya Gearhart disappeared on the night of May 26. She is believed to be in Seaside, Oregon with a man known by the name Torry Stewart. DHS said that she could also be in southern Oregon or northern California.
"The Oregon Department of Human Services asks the public to help in the effort to find her and to contact 911 or local law enforcement if they believe they see her," the agency said in a statement.
Gearhart was first reported missing on the morning of Tuesday, May 27.
