MEDFORD, Ore--- This Memorial Day Weekend is expected to be one of the busiest on record. According to TripAdvisor, travel for the weekend is up 30 percent from last year.
Of that 30 percent, 64 percent will be driving.
Friday is expected to be the busiest day of the weekend. Many are leaving Thursday, in order to miss the rush on Friday.
Gas prices will be an important thing to budget for.
AAA says the most popular destination among Oregon travelers is Seattle. If you are heading north from the Rogue Valley, you will have to fill up again in Oregon.
While the national average is still around $2.85 a gallon, the Oregon average is at $3.44 a gallon.
If you are headed to the other direction, be ready for it to be even higher.
The California average is $4.02 a gallon. Siskiyou County is at $4.05 a gallon, and it stays consistent all the way to the Bay Area.
However, another 25 percent will travel by flight. So, be ready for the airports to be busy as well. Going in earlier than you normally would may save your trip.
