MEDFORD, Ore. — Emergency and power crews were investigating after a sudden electrical outage in the heart of Medford on Monday.
The epicenter of the outage and response was near the intersection of Stevens Street and Biddle Road at a Pacific Power substation. Firefighters near the scene said that the outage was caused by an "equipment failure" and a broken insulator.
Traffic signals at the intersection of Biddle and E Jackson Street went out, and crews said that stores within The Village at Medford Center were also without power.
According to the Pacific Power website, nearly 3,200 customers were estimated to be without power just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
By 5 p.m., firefighters had left the scene of the outage and an official with Pacific Power said that more crews were on the way.
