MEDFORD, Ore. --
UPDATE: A standoff at Hawthorne Park in Medford has ended with the suspect alive and in custody, according to Medford Police.
The agency said early that a man had gone to the park following a domestic disturbance early this morning and was threatening to take his own life, prompting a major police response.
The suspect was taken into custody by the local SWAT team shortly after 11 a.m. with no shots fired, Medford Police said.

INITIAL REPORT: The Medford Police Department says a man has a gun and is threatening suicide at Hawthorne Park near downtown Medford.
Police have closed Riverside Avenue, Main Street and 6th Street near the park. People are asked to avoid the area.
Several officers, crisis negotiators, and members of Jackson County Mental Health are at the park trying to talk to the man.
Medford Police says this stems from a domestic dispute call early this morning in a different part of town.
