MEDFORD, Ore. — A Medford man is behind bars on Wednesday, accused of sharing images depicting child sexual abuse online following a joint investigation by the Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
Detectives served a search warrant at the home of 54-year-old Jeffery Andrew Ford in the 300-block of DeBarr Avenue on Wednesday morning. The JCSO SWAT team assisted in taking Ford into custody "without incident."
The local investigation into Ford began in January of this year when an investigator with with the Oregon DOJ Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force got in touch with JCSO detectives. The DOJ investigator was looking into the "online sharing of multiple images depicting the sexual abuse of children," according to JCSO.
Ford was identified as the suspect in the sex crimes case.
JCSO said that the case will be referred to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Anyone with information on the case can call Detective Steve Bohn at (541) 774-6168.
At present, Ford is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on six counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the First Degree and six counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree. He is being held on $105,000 bail.
