MEDFORD, Ore. — A child pornography investigation that began back in 2018 has resulted in the arrest of a Medford man, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO).
Detectives arrested 32-year-old Derrick Christopher Estrada on Wednesday at a house in the 700-block of Stevens Street.
JCSO said that in October of 2018, investigators with the Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) notified them of a case that involved images of child sex abuse being shared on Facebook. Those investigators had narrowed down the search to someone located in Jackson County.
A nine month joint investigation led the two agencies to Estrada. On July 17, a grand jury issued a secret indictment for Estrada on nine counts of encouraging child sexual abuse in the first degree and nine counts of encouraging child sexual abuse in the second degree. A judge signed an arrest warrant for Estrada for these charges and set bail at $180,000.
On Wednesday, the detectives moved in.
"Detectives served search warrants at Estrada’s home and a second Medford residence associated with Estrada," the Sheriff's Office said.
Estrada has been lodged at the Jackson County jail. Anyone with information about the case can contact Detective Steve Bohn at (541) 774-6168, refer to case #18-22083.
