MEDFORD, Ore. -- Medford City Council is considering a proposal from Rogue Retreat for the city's second tiny home village.
Heart Village is a collaboration between Rogue Retreat and the Addictions Recovery Center.
The village is designed to shelter those recovering from addiction. It will consist of just over a dozen units and include kitchen, bathroom and laundry amentities.
The proposed location is 1118 W. 8th Street in Medford and the property is owned by ARC.
“It is a unique project for Medford to have a nonprofit agency who specializes in assisting the unhoused work that intimately where you would be on their campus, basically the Addictions Recovery Center," said Kelly Madding, deputy city manager. "There are lots of unhoused people who deal with addiction and mental illness, and I think this is a very positive step, at least in terms of looking at this.”
Madding says the city is asking Rogue Retreat to do community outreach and get input from neighbors on the proposed location.
