MEDFORD, Ore. — As the state reopens, local businesses are seeing customers return — but with an ongoing shortage of staff, some say that hard decisions had to be made for the sake of the workers they have.
Local restaurant Kaleidoscope Pizzeria and Pub will suspend its take-out business restaurant indefinitely as of this Saturday. This comes as a result of a shortage in kitchen staff.
"We knew that when we were able to utilize all of our restaurant that we were going to have more business, more dine in business," says general manager Jake Allmaras. "We had to make a choice. We could only effectively staff one kitchen and that was what really forced the issue."
According to Allmaras, the take-out service accounts for more than half of the business.
Kaleidoscope will still be accepting walk-in to go orders at the main restaurant. They hope to have the take out business open again by the end of the summer and are currently hiring to fill open positions.
