MEDFORD, Ore. -- There is now a closing notice on the doors of Witham Truck Stop Restaurant. The restaurant has been in business since 1965 but the manager, Brenda Francis, told NewsWatch 12 that there has been a slow-down in business.
Both employees and customers alike are sad to see the restaurant close down.
"It's going to be really rough," said Francis. "The people here, my girls, we're close, we're family. We know just about everybody that comes in here."
Cliff Ulam is one of their regulars that says he's been coming in on a weekly basis since the summer of 1979.
“You walk in, they know where you're going to sit, they know what you want and it's just like having dinner at home," says Ulam.
He says he’ll be visiting the restaurant multiple times this week to make sure he sees everyone one last time.
Sitting next to Ulam is Bob Thornton. Thornton actually helped build inside of the restaurant back in 1965.
"My dad and I built these cabinets. We installed all the booths and the tables,” said Thornton.
He says it will be rough not being able to visit the restaurant anymore and see his work from 50 years ago.
The restaurant will be closing on February 6th.
