Medford Police Chase Suspect by Car and on Foot

A Medford Police car is heavily damaged after being rammed into on purpose.

MEDFORD, Ore-- A Medford Police car is heavily damaged after being rammed into on purpose. This lead to a pursuit on Highway 99.

Medford Police were trying to talk to Michael Macabe in the Northgate Shopping Center early Saturday morning. Macabe has felony warrants from the California Department of Corrections.

When officers tried to talk to the suspect he put his car into reverse, smashing into a Medford Police car and almost hit an officer. Police say he drove through the landscaping to escape. That's when the chase began.

The chase ended on Merriman road where it turned to a chase on foot. An officer chased him down and took him into custody.

The vehicle that was struck was a K9 vehicle. Police say the K9 is ok the car on the other hand is heavily damaged.
