ASHLAND, Ore. -- Employees at Maple Ridge Senior Living in Ashland made 30 meals for 30 lower income and/or housebound seniors in Talent and Ashland. Then spent the afternoon driving around to deliver them and see how each senior was doing.
"We serve seniors on a daily basis as a job but we know that there are a lot of seniors out in the greater community that can also use a helping hand," said Community Relations Director Joni Hickey. "We got to thinking that we wanted to be there for those seniors as well."
Meals on Wheels helped figure out which seniors wanted a meal. Nancy Marr was the very first person to get her turkey dinner Thursday afternoon.
"What a lovely thing to do! I thank you! It's just so nice, really!" Marr added.
"We serve our community but I think its importan that we serve our greater community of Ashland as well," Administrator Amanda Randolph said.
Maple Ridge is thinking about delivering meals again for Christmas. Employees definitely plan to next Thanksgiving.
