MERLIN, Ore. -- Today a Fire Prevention Specialist from Rural Metro Fire went around making sure homes are "firewise" — defensible in the event that a wildfire comes knocking.

The guidelines that Rural Metro Fire Department follows are all under a law that was passed in 1997.

“If a fire does come through here, fire crews can come in and they can successful defend the fire,” Mark Jones with Rural Metro Fire said.

If you are interested in having your home inspected contact Rural Metro Fire.
