MEDFORD, Ore. -- Logos Public Charter School and the Southern Oregon Spartans came together Sunday to help a child in need. A portion of Sunday’s ticket sales will be going to Logos’ Sparrow, Elizabeth. She's only five years old and has an eye condition called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia (ONH) that's now left her blind. She also has a rare condition called hypopituitarism that affects her hormones so she's required to have nightly hormone injections.
“The kids…have been jumping at every chance they get to support her, filling out their vouchers and doing community service which is the core of the Sparrow Clubs program. But this is just something extra that we do to just bring our community together in support of her,” said Logos event coordinator Emily Spires.
About 70 students and their families came out to support their Sparrow.
“It makes me feel really helpful and happy to know that I am helping someone who needs to be helped," added 6th grader Madilyn Fanelli.
