MEDFORD, Ore-- Hundreds of thousand of people in need around the world now have a meal.

On Saturday people spent their time packing bags and boxes of rice. The rice is for the non-profit "Feed My Starving Children". These boxes get shipped all around the world.

There were four, two hour long shifts for people to pack. Everything is weighed and packed efficiently. It's almost like a giant assembly line.

The Rogue Valley Mobile Pack Coordinator says events like this are only possible because of the community's support and time. "One of the coolest things about this is that kiddos can participate with their families. Kids ages five and up can volunteer so you just get to see kids with their parents and grand parents. Everybody together." said Jason Licato.

The goal from the event was to make 272,000 meals. The first session alone packed 68,000 meals. Just to give you an idea of how many meals that is, each bag of rice is considered one meal.
